Kenzo x H&M – Jungle Fever

Last Friday I had the chance to have a close look at the highly anticipated collection of Kenzo x H&M and let me tell you: It is going to be wild.

The new collection is bold and colourful – more Tokyo or London than Zurich – and aiming at younger customers or more daring fashionistas than myself. That’s the beauty of youth; you can get away with anything. Large logos, animal prints and crazy colour combinations.

So is there anything I would wear in no country for old men? Sure, there are in fact a few pieces that I am considering such as the black leather bomber jacket, a cool parka, a stylish sweater with embroided details or some black Chelsea boots with a thick green rubber sole.

One thing that stands out in this collection is the attention to details (tiger zippers!) and also features such as removable parts to play with the length of jackets or reversibility of single pieces.

As usual people will queue up on the night of the second of November in front of every H&M store to get hold of as many pieces as possible (although you will only be able to buy one piece of each model or was it one size of each?). Anyway, if you manage to fight your way through to the men’s department you may be surprised to find some women hunting in our territory. Why? Because one of the take-aways of the showroom exhibition was that women like many of the pieces made for men. Well, nowadays that the gender questions is as flexible as Drake’s old schedule it really doesn’t matter after all.

At this point I would usually upload some pictures but unfortunately I left my camera at home and therefore you will need to content yourself with some snapshot from my phone…or check out the full collection including professional photos on GQ’s site.

The collection will hit stores on November 3rd.

Many thanks to the team at H&M for having me over.
