Day 6 (Thursday / Cape Town)
The weekend is around the corner and it is time to get back to Cape Town, but not without a short stop-over in Betty’s Bay first. While most tourist will tell you about the penguin colony in Simon’s Town, specifically at Boulders Beach, there is another and much less exploited attraction along your way home. At the Stoney Point penguin colony you will be able to really be among the animals basically by yourself. This little detour is absolutely worth the extra miles.
Once you are back in CT you may want to have a laid back evening with burgers and maybe a drink. Visit the Royal Eatery (www.royaleeatery.com) on Long Street for excellent gourmet burgers. The place is always buzzing but if you get there late(r)- say 9ish- chances are good that you will find a table.
Day 7 (Friday / Cape Town)
Get up late, dress for a summer party (think white, linen, shorts but dressy ones; not your gym gear!, espadrilles, etc.) and don’t forget to pack your swimming trunks and a beach towel. Then head up the hill to the Roundhouse Restaurant (www.theroundhouserestaurant.com) for a light lunch with a view.
After lunch you can drive downhill to Clifton Beaches to finally work on your tan. Our favourite spot was Clifton Beach 3, because the bay is nicely sheltered from the wind. Spent the afternoon doing absolutely nothing and wait for the sunset.
After such an exhausting day you may need to treat yourself with a nice dinner, for example at the Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant on Kloof Street. Don’t be fooled by the tacky, oversized and yellow illuminated letters outside- this place serves excellent food. Ask for the salmon roses to start with and just work yourself through the menu.
What’s next? Most probably you will be up all night to get lucky. Try Tjing Tjing Rooftop Bar (www.tjingtjing.co.za) and Aces n’ Spades (www.acesnspades.com) for some drinks and top off the night at 31 (www.thirtyone.co.za).
Day 8 (Saturday / Cape Town)
Try to get up around 10 despite the headache. You will be rewarded by some incredible hangover food at the Old Biscuit Mill (www.theoldbiscuitmill.co.za). Drive or better get an Uber to Woodstock (the Brooklyn of CT somehow) and head directly to the food market. Make sure to have cash (no cards accepted) and to visit the Espresso Lab before the market shuts down at 2pm.
Now that you have recovered from last night you may either continue your transformation into Donatella Versace or man up and go to Shimmy Beach Club (www.shimmybeachclub.com) for a daytime party and go with the flow…

Day 9 (Sunday /Cape Town)
Do whatever you feel like
Day 10 (Monday / Paternoster)
Drive up north to a small place called Paternoster and check in at the Strandloper Ocean Boutique Hotel (www.strandloperocean.com) for two days of luxury and rest. Stroll around the all-white village pretending to be in Greece for a few hours and enjoy a crayfish or beef braai prepared by the chef (Mister Lovemore) himself for dinner.
