There aren’t many places where you can pull off white pants nowadays. Monaco, St. Tropez, Dubai, Miami and the 80ies.And then there is Punta del Este. The basic requirements are fulfilled; sun, beach, high-networth individuals; but somehow the fashion didn’t make it to the East of Uruguay yet. How else could you possibly be way overdressed in such a place wearing an outfit that cost less than 200 bucks?
Well, because for instance the go to footwear are Crocs. And if you think that’s bad you should see what kind of sandals women wear with their dresses – think of the ravers in the early 90ies. Those images will remain burnt into your retina forever (search “rave shoes” in google and you will understand).
So what does all this have to do with my outfit? Actually nothing, but on rare occasions have I felt so stared at like during my visit to the stunning Casapueblo. I thought this would be a cool location to shoot some pics, but it turns out that wearing long pants AND a jacket give people lots of reasons to stare.
